The Birmingham Post recently published an article regarding the complexities faced in education now, as more pupils now across the UK have English as an additional language.

Nicholas Bailey of the Birmingham Post explains, ‘ The scale of the issue is vast.  There are currently more than 1.5 million learners in the UK with English as an additional language (EAL).”

Here at Great Barr Academy we lead the way with our EAL provision by having a dedicated EAL support unit as well as harnessing leading technology to maximise pupil engagement.  Our Head of EAL, Hollie O’Sullivan, features in the article and talks about the challenges faced and how the school is determined to give all pupils the best possible chance.
