From our Spotlight on Attendance campaign in March 2017 the following results were:
- A Year 8 student was issued with a fixed penalty notice. This was not paid and parent(s) were taken to court where the cost went up from £120 to £300 plus.
- Year 9 students parent(s) are being taken to court in November
- Year 10 students Parent(s) are being taken to court in November
- Year 11 students Parents(s) are being taken to court in November
Update: 26th February 2018:
6 pupils received fixed penalty notices today: Both parents have been issued with fixed penalty for 3 pupils. Then 3 fines have gone to 1 parent for the other 3 pupils.
Birmingham council fine is £60, which rises to £120 if you don’t pay within 21 days.
If you don’t pay the fine after 28 days you may be prosecuted for your child’s absence from school.
