Salary:
£22,467 to £33,160

The Role:

Great Barr Academy provides the perfect environment for an ambitious, driven teacher of Business & ICT to refine their practice and to gain in-depth knowledge and experience of strategies for improving progress.

We are looking for a friendly, hardworking teacher with a strong team ethos who is able to teach Business to KS4/5 and ICT to KS3/4. Applications welcome from experienced Business & ICT teachers with a track record of teaching consistently good and outstanding lessons (a January start will be considered for the right candidate) or from NQTs. The ability to teach Computer Science to KS4 would be an advantage. We have an NQT induction programme which is considered to be an exemplar of good practice.

The Department:

The Department of Business & Computing Team works hard to ensure that all students are provided with stimulating and challenging lessons in which they make good progress. The team are not afraid to innovate and see how the latest technologies and techniques can be used to enrich and strengthen the curriculum. All ICT & Computer Science teachers have their own dedicated IT suite.
Business is growing in popularity year on year hence the need to expand our team of qualified Business teachers with this new post.

At KS4, we offer GCSE Business, GCSE Computer Science and we are considering reintroducing GCSE ICT.

At KS5, we offer A Level Business, A level Computer Science (OCR) and Level 3 in ICT (OCR Cambridge Technicals).

Candidates will need to offer Spanish and French to GCSE level and either Spanish or French to A Level. The ability to offer German to KS3 would also be an advantage though this is not essential.

Great Barr Academy is sponsored by Shaw Education Trust. We are based in north Birmingham and have a large, diverse and vibrant community of students. We have a well-established and very successful Sixth Form.

Our MFL Department delivers German, French and Spanish at KS3 and:

• GCSEs in German, French and Spanish (AQA)
• A Levels in French, German and Spanish (AQA)

The department organises regular overseas visits to give the children the opportunity to develop their language skills in a real context. The department includes mother-tongue Language Assistants in French, German and Spanish.

Applications welcome from experienced MFL teachers with a track record of teaching consistently good and outstanding lessons and achieving zero or positive Progress 8 scores, or from potential NQTs who are making encouraging progress in their training. We have an NQT induction programme which is considered to be an exemplar of good practice. This is an excellent place for an outstanding MFL Teacher to develop their career.
